Mata
Ortiz Pottery is a Casas Grandes renaissance, patterned after the
ancient pottery yet with its own creative craftsmanship and unique
designs. A self-taught potter, Juan Quezada - who lived by the Palanganas
River near the ancient ruins of Casas Grandes, in today's northern
Chihuahua, Mexico - founded a native art movement inspired by the
same traditions that died out around the time of the Spanish conquest.
There are now almost 300 Mata Ortiz artisans producing amazing pots.
These one-of-a-kind vessels can be viewed in the realm of art.
With each purchase, receive a free
copy of Rhodas book: Discovering the Magic Pots
of Mata Ortiz. Beautiful photographs of the potters
in their studios and depicting in detail the Casas Grandes story
and history.
